At the kick-off meeting for the new executive members of the Toronto-Danforth Provincial Liberal Association, we voted on new and renewed philanthropic initiatives in our community.
We’re pleased to report that this fall and winter we are supporting three local charities who do important work in our community:
- The Riverdale Share community concert, happening Sunday December 4, 2022 – 3pm at The Danforth Music Hall. TDPLA is proud to once again support as a Balcony Sponsor. This important local initiative has been gathering the community together to celebrate its unique spirit of giving since 1991, raising funds and food for dozens of local charities including Blake Boultbee Youth Outreach Service, Mustard Seed, and Ralph Thornton Community Centre. Tickets are still available – hope to see you there!
- The Out of the Cold program, hosted locally on Fridays at the Eastminster Campus of East End United. This program offers our neighbours who lack housing an indoor sit-down hot dinner, take out lunch, clothing, and toiletries. TDPLA is once again supporting with financial assistance.
- The TDPLA (and friends) are making a donation of children’s winter clothing to the Red Door Family Shelter. Since 1982, the Red Door has been providing emergency shelter and support for women and children affected by domestic abuse, families experiencing a housing crisis, and refugee claimants with nowhere else to turn. This vital program provides shelter and support to over 350 families in our community every year.
We encourage all of our members to find out more about these important charities in our neighbourhood, and please consider making your own charitable donation in this season of giving.
We hope to see you at Riverdale Share this Sunday!
